About This Walk

A highly anticipated return to the quantocks and the Carew Arms, a fantastic little boozer in Crowcombe. Last year we had a lovely walk in two parts here. First an amble along the stream behind the pub where we were literally spoiled for species including some interesting aquatic plants like false watercress and of course Hemlock Water Dropwort, but also some wonderful meadow plants and flowers and even a few of ‘those’ kinds of mushrooms.

After that we head up to the Quantock Hills and I’ll warn you now to dress for the weather because it can be fairly changeable up there. However it was so worth it as we discovered a multitude of fantastic mushrooms from parasols to ceps, oysters and the elusive but magnificent Destroying Angel.

So, why not join us for a memorable walk and a pint, plus a few foraged treats to eat and drink.
